SALLY THOMPSON, CAP-OM

Brief Bio

Sally Thompson is a Coordinator III – Special Programs serving the Electronics, MEMS and Nanoelectronics Systems Packaging Center and the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at The University of Texas at Arlington. In her role, she has dialog and interaction with renowned scientists and engineers at the international level. She has also planned numerous national and international technical conferences.

Sally is one of two representatives from UT Arlington serving on the UT System Employee Advisory Council. She is the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the UT Arlington Golden Circle Staff Association, a campus network group for Support Staff. She is Staff Advisor to the student chapters of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Sally has served on the UT Arlington Staff Advisory Council and the New Employee Mentor Program. Previously she was a departmental representative for the State Employees Charitable Campaign and a member of the University’s planning committee for the annual Administrative Professionals Day events.

Sally has been recognized with the “Maverick Star Award” in 2001, the University’s “Outstanding Employee Award” in 2007, and with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering’s Graduating Class of 2009 “Most Valuable Staff Award”. That same year, she was honored by the Student Chapter Members of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers through the “Sally Thompson Scholarship.” Recently, the West Texas Professional Section of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers recognized her participation as UT Arlington Student Section Staff Advisor for her “diligent service and unselfish devotion.”

Sally is a Certified Administrative Professional in Office Management (CAP-OM) by the International Association of Administrative Professionals. She has led numerous CAP-OM exam review sessions for the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and is a Part-Time Instructor for the Executive Assistant Certificate Program’s Office Procedures course for the Division of Enterprise Development at UT Arlington. Sally maintains her life’s balance by being an avid scuba diver.
